About us
The aims and purpose of the Society shall be to encourage and promote the study and practice of the Earth Sciences, particularly of and in Uganda, facilitating the exchange of ideas between earth scientists and other members of society for the benefit not only of the science itself but for the people whom this science can serve.
The members to this society, after considering the need to promote, encourage and preserve the study of earth sciences in Uganda, came together to rebuild this society for the benefit of all its members concerned and or connected to Earth Science.

Climate Change
The study and analysis of long-term shifts in weather patterns and global temperatures, primarily attributed to human activities such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation. The Geological Society of Uganda engages in research, education, and advocacy efforts aimed at understanding and mitigating the impacts of climate change within the Ugandan context.
Environment
This encompasses the study of interactions between the natural world and human society, focusing on the preservation and management of ecosystems, biodiversity, and natural resources. The Geological Society of Uganda works to promote sustainable practices, conservation efforts, and environmental stewardship in Uganda, addressing issues such as pollution, habitat degradation, and resource depletion
Earth Sciences
The multidisciplinary field that encompasses geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrology, and related disciplines, studying the physical structure, composition, and processes of the Earth. The Geological Society of Uganda fosters collaboration, research, and education within the earth sciences, advancing knowledge and understanding of Uganda’s geological heritage, natural hazards, and geological resources for the benefit of society.
